THE GAME OF PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

You are a presidential candidate on the debate stage.

Like a real politician, you don't need to know anything about the debate topic. Instead, combine your pre-written talking points to grandstand, attack your opponents, and rally the public into a patriotic fervor!

FAMILY FRIENDLY, MADE IN THE USA

School Friendly

The Contender is used in schools across the country to teach the power of rhetoric in debate.

Omni-Partisan

Doesn’t pick a side or let players pick sides. Enjoyed by Red Team and Blue Team, even at the same time.

Thoroughly Researched

Every card you play is based on a real quote from a US politician; from George Washington to 2015.

ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE OF POLITICS, DEBATE, OR IMPROV NECESSARY!

2016 Primary Expansion

The base deck contains 500 cards from all of American history. This expansion contains 100 cards from the wildest primary season in American political history.

Includes cards based on quotes from glasses wearing Rick Perry, Little Marco, Lyin' Ted, Bernie Sanders, Jim Web, Lincoln Chaffee, and lots of Clinton and Trump.

Politically Incorrect Expansion

The 500 card base deck and the 2016 expansion is family friendly, but that's only because we took out all the the cards in this expansion. These are all the live mics, Nixon Tapes, and politicians forgetting to hang up on reporters.

All of the cards in this expansion are colored blue so you can easily remove them when grandma comes over.

SHOUT IT FROM THE MOUNTAINTOP!

“The Contender is a political debate card game that combines the fun of Cards Against Humanity with the realism of fibs, bluster, pandering, grandstanding, bombast, and every logical fallacy you can think of.”

“Just as Cards Against Humanity revolutionized Apples to Apples, a new game is revolutionizing Cards Against Humanity by sprinkling in classic political tropes to build a world of hilarious debate possibilities.”

“Politics are all about antics, from blowhard rhetoric to orchestrated photo ops and theatrical debates. The Contender capitalizes on the latter.”

“What happens when the heated debate of political rhetoric meets the family fun of games like Apples to Apples? Magic party fun!”

ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE OF POLITICS, DEBATE, OR IMPROV NECESSARY!

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

The Contender was conceived by two friends with a penchant for politics, a love of the absurd, and a passion for games.

Justin Robert Young

Justin Robert Young is a podcaster and writer. He is very loud and often embarrassing. Justin has loved politics since the year 2000 when he watched his high school science teacher in Florida count pieces of ripped paper to determine who would be the leader of the free world. Only in America!

John Teasdale

The first game John made was Presidential-opoly. Players traversed this land of opportunity, buying states for their votes. Fortunately for John, Hasbro didn't sue 5th graders for their social studies projects. Fast forward to now, he has been able to come up with a few ideas on his own.
